The Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity partners with needy families and the community to build affordable healthy homes.  Our families must qualify using the established Family Criteria.

•  Need for Adequate Shelter

  • Present dwelling is structurally inadequate
  • Size of dwelling is inadequate
  • Temporary housing
  • Cost of housing is more than 50% of gross income
  • Unable to obtain conventional financing

   

  Ability to Pay

  • Minimum income guideline 
  • Debt-to income ratio
  • Monthly payment consistency
  • Bankruptcy, liens, and judgments reviewed

  Volunteers organize the construction of a Habitat house and depend heavily on community support, both people and dollars.  Through the building of Habitat homes families are able to purchase their own home with no interest and no profit to Habitat.
